Are we allowed to kill off our own character (say, if we wish to leave but just don't want to say "by" and go).

i would like to second rhia's "please don't go if that's what you're thinking", and also ask about rule 3. can we use npcs? not all the time, but maybe for contrast or part of a storyline. (kinda referring to camri and jayan from bree.)

NPCs are fine as long as they are identifyable in your posts and you don't register seperate accounts for them. Or people register twice to create an enemy and then start spamming by fighting against themselves...

How about two accounts on the same side? The Nazgûl could sure do with more fighters and stuff, plus it seems fun to have two personalities, probably an Uruk-Hai and a Ringwraith. I'm dying to know how it's like to be fighting for Mordor, yet not use magic and scare the pants off people when stepping onto the battlefield. It must be interesting to really fight. ;D

I can understand your point. But if we allow two accounts for 'minorities' like orcs or Nazgul, it would be hard to deny it to others like dwarfs and even rangers. Plus, it would be hard to control how many accounts a person really has. I don't want to check "certain things" all the time...And, another important point is to prevent spamming. I think we should try with the 'fair play' rules for all sides on the battlefield. Also, you can introduce an NPC friend (like Firebird did), if you like, and develop him as a kind of second char.

'Kay, thanks. ;D Now, I have another question on copyrights, and I think it should be a serious topic. The War of Minas Ithil has become more than just a....war. There are true, well, emotions involved and more pyschologically-inspired moves. It's not just a "Let's-fight-and-see-who-drops-dead-first" thing anymore. It's more of a "If-we-don't-fight,-our-families-will-not-survive" kind of er....thing. You know what I mean......the latter is kind of referring to fighting not for ourselves, but for everyone else, whereas the first.....well, that's fighting for ourselves. So.......it's become a very......well, more interesting and realistic string of events. Which would make a perfect war story. Well, you see, there's a kind of "thing" over here. Certain schools have a Creative Arts Programme (CAP) thingy, where you'll get selected to be in a programme where there's this mentor who has really written and published stuff before to guide you and develop writing skills and such. But to get in, you'll have to be excellent at writing and you need to prove it by submitting a CAP Portfolio for the er.....people to read and select the best candidates. So, to have a portfolio, you must write some stuff, preferably starting early, because the selcetions are sometime next year or the year after. I was thinking......Maybe I could.....er......use the storyline? Of course, there'd have to be changes, like the names given and such. Most are a little.....unnatural. You know.......Who'd christen their kid Firebird? No offence to Firebird (sorry! ), but that doesn't really seem possible. To me, anyway. And the stuff about magic would have to be edited and substituted with some real-life stuff. Titles like "Witch-King", "Ranger", "Elf", "Uruk-Hai", "Ringwraiths" etc. would have to be changed too, so as not to relate it to LOTR. Probably substituted with "General", "Lieutenant", "Captain" and other army terms. With a name at the end, of course. And there'll probably have to be some discussion about the rankings and stuff, but that comes later. So, I was wondering.......Could I try that? I'd have to ask for permission first.......

I agree, difficult one...Of course "our" stories are original and sort of group property (so, yours, too) but everything we do here is based on another man's fantasy we're using...
As most of the people involved in the battle are mods, I'd like to discuss this question on the mod's board first. Feel free to start a thread there and/or set up a poll.

The first rule does not allow either orcs or ring-wraiths to be on these boards since the ring is destroyed. However, I have to make a point that almost all of the Elves left once that happens so the whole place would pretty much be only Dwarves and Humans due to the law made by King Elessar of Gondor, which says that nobody is allowed to almost be in the Shire except Hobbits.
On these boards, there are still many different peoples and if there are no more orcs, Uruk-hair and ring-wraiths, who shall the free peoples of Middle-Earth be able to fight against? What about all those adventure stories which we could write?

;D It's about the ring being destroyed in a story on this board... Otherwise, yes, that's the point, exactly ;D

So if one person understood that the ring DID get destroyed already; the rule wouldn't even be there? But is it alright if you mention something concerning rings which still lives today?

Then why can't it be destroyed? Where is Frodo Baggins when he is needed!
So when does this board take place? In the years between the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings or perhaps right after the Last Alliance of Men and Elves?
