RULES FOR ROLEPLAYING IN RIVENDELL (April 13th 2002)

Dear member/guest, you have come to a RPG board (mostly). As such it is based on the fantasy of its members. Despite that, some rules are necessary:

#1: This board is dedicated to the world of Tolkien's books, mainly the 'Lord Of The Rings' trilogy. This means that there are certain rules/facts. One, if the ring, and with it Sauron, is destroyed, the story's over. No more orcs, no more ringwraiths, no more fights. Everything else here would become rather pointless.
#2: The LotR world also applies to the choice of races you have. You can find a list of races in the corresponding thread.
#3: Users are to have only one character.
#4: Developing a character. Please keep your character realistic. Nobody starts out with max skills. Develop them gradually. Even a balrog isn’t immortal and even Gandalf hasn‘t unlimited magical powers.
#5: The LotR world also applies to your choice of equipment. There are no such things as e.g Dragonballs or Black Sorcerer Sand here.
#6: It’s strictly forbidden to kill other member’s characters.
#7: This is Middle Earth. People here want to fight against orcs, Nazgul and Uruk-Hai. Not Klingons or Dinosaurs. Please respect this.
#8: When two members meet in battle as opponents (e.g. Nazgul vs. Elf) actions must be posted in turns with only one action/move per turn. E.g. Elf shoots arrow at Ringwraith <end of elf's turn> No posts like "elf shoots 20 arrows at Ringwraith, pinning him to a tree helpless, jumps at Nazgul, draws his sword and runs it through him."
#9: Respect the storylines of threads, you don't have to post everywhere, there are differences between what you know and what your character knows!! This means if chars leave for secret missions, of course you know by reading threads. Your char can't.
#10: Watch your language. Rude, abusive, offensive, etc posts will be deleted without warning.
#11: No spamming. You don't have to post everywhere. It's quality not quantity that makes good role plays.
#12: Stories & Story Ideas are copyrighted by their authors. This applies not only to complete stories but also to the Story Introductions like new threads on the stories/wars board ("The Forge of Moria") and stories with given storylines (like "Shadows over Gondor").
#13: If you are not sure about any of this points or have questions check back with the moderator or the admins before posting.
#14: If a user violates the rules frequently /on purpose, mods and admins keep the right to take appropriate action.
