continued from Streets & Lanes/ Midnight Murder *Back in the Prancing Pony the scroll she had taken from the herbalist still lies on the table. Looking at it, the runes and complicated patterns still make only little sense. Takes the scroll and puts it back into its container. * I think I'll take to a friend of mine who lives here in Bree. Maybe he can help me. Anyone who wants to come with me?

*As she gets nearer, shivers run up and down her spine as she remembers what happened the last time she visited her old friend. Shakes her head and raises her hand to knock at the door*

*Nobody answers. Going round the house she finds the hollow stone with the extra key. Takes it and opens the door. Obviously none of the inhabitants are at home. Decides to wait for a while as it becomes dark and it starts to rain. Lights a candle, goes into the kitchen to make herself a snack, then goes into Rhisiart's study. Looking at the high shelves overloaded with books, she smiles as she remembers how she played here as a child. Puts the candle and the plate down on the desk. Goes over to a tiny shelf in a corner and carefully wipes some dust from the cover of an old book. Opens it and smiles.* I knew this runes looked familiar somehow. * Decides to have something to eat first before exploring further.*

*Takes her time eating, allowing all her childhood memories of this place to come back. Leans back and sighs, thinking of the first time her dad took her on the journey to Bree...*

*After finishing her meal, she goes back to the desk where she has left the scroll and the book. Carefully unrolls the first part of the scroll and places two little carved stones on it to hold it down. Takes the old book and opens it. Searches until she finds the right pages: Ancient Scripts Of The Ages: Chapter XII The Dragon RunesReaches for a piece of paper and a quill.* Here we go...

*Has fought her way halfway through the chapter in the book when she hears a key turning. Rushes to the door and sees Rhisiart enter.* Rhisiart! Thanks to the Spirits you're back. I have something I need to show you. *The man smiles* "Please let an old man sit down and get some tea first..." "Er, yes, I'm sorry. Let me take your cloak, the tea is already waiting" *Rushes into the kitchen to get another cup. Gets back into the living room. Rhisiart is standing at his desk, staring at the scroll. He turns around slowly* "My dear child, do you have any idea what you've got here?" "I'm trying to find out" "Has anyone followed you here? Who knows where you are? Tell me everything about how you got this scroll!"

*Looks a little confused* "Well, I told my friends at the Pony about it, in fact we all took a look at it but nobody could figure out what the runes say. But I'm quite sure that I wasn't followed. What's it all about?" "It's the history of a land that vanished into the mists of time a long while ago. I doubt even the elves will remember it. It went down in a great war." " A history book? So what is all the fuss about then?" "It was a land of magic and riches beyond a dragons wildest dreams. And the most valuable ones were hidden so well that nobody ever found them." "And?" "This scroll is not only a book of history but also of ancient and almost forgotten magic. In the wrong hands, it could destroy everything. And - maybe there's a hint to the treasure...Anyway one reason alone would be enough to keep many people searching for it." "Can you read it?" "Lets see...."
