*on the other side of the feild opposite of taget practice there are big spots with good terrain all sorts (water, hills mountainous flat) and swords and sheilds provided*
come here to cahllenge someone to a duel or you can parry someone (not sure what that means) remeber no killing!!!! you only lose when you get caught where you can't fight back like they have a sword to your neck and you have no weapon

*runs forward swinging the sword low to the ground making sparks (on grass how?) swings above head and slices down. then jumps back. frodo isn't damged or hurt and ther seems to be no signs of damage* look at your belt *the belt falls cut in the front* no more sheath (that is meant for a suprise attack so the people lose their sword)

I stand at the door, bow and enter the room. I smile at Jack and Frodo. Seeing them engaged in practice I walk over to the open space. I sit down to tie up my hakama pants then put my beautiful ancient shinken back in my belt. I turn towards Jack and Frodo saying:"Gentlemen, I would be honoured to practice with you when you've finished your duel." I walk over to a sunny spot and start practicing my favourite katas.

*flying overhead, she sees two figures heavily engaged in a practice sword fight, and another figure practicing by itself. she lands by the solitary figure, who turns out to be a female human, with possibly a little elvish in her*
hello. I am Glynfinial, queen of the fairies. how do you do? would you like to practice a little sword fighting with me? i'm not very good yet. *smiles*

Not my sword, no. What type of sword do you have? As you can see, mine is an old samurai blade, slightly curves and with only one sharp side.

Since you are a fairy, you should use the strenght and power of your enemies against them than trying to bang swords against each other (which is quite senseless anyway. The only good reason to do this is to create an opening in an enemy's cover for your own attack...). So, I can show you some moves to practice on your own or we can start with real duel techniques right away.

*relaxes noticibly* oh, good. my sword is silver. the blade is double-sided. i'm not sure what the type is...i think it's called a longsword? i must confess i am much better at archery than swordsmanship.

*considers this for a moment*
yes...that makes sense. what i was thinking though, is that i would start battle up in the air, shooting arrows from above. and when i ran out of arrows, i would swoop by those on horses and use my sword to unseat them...and kill them, yes. of course, once i got close to the groud like this, i would have to fold my wings quickly as they're an easy target. so i suppose i will not be able to unseat many in this fashion. once i am on the ground, i will have to use my sword again.
does this make sense?
i agree with you that banging swords is rather useless. what particular moves did you have in mind to teach me?

When you have been attacking them from the air with arrows, your enemies will be really mad already which is a huge advantage for you.
Now, imagine a furious man, who has just fallen of his horse rushing towards you with his sword already raised above his head (BIG mistake, always...). Stay where you are with your sword already out of the scabbard, letting it hang down relaxed on your right side (you're right-handed, aren't you?).
So, this guy rans towards you. There are basically two varieties. When he is near enough without starting to cut down, do a small step to the right in a circular forward movement. This will get you out of his line of attack. At the same time raise your sword in a small half circle up so that it points at his belly. If your enemy has not very VERY fast reflexes, he will run right into it - end. 2nd variation. The man starts cutting down towards your head. Make the same step forward and to the side and raise your sword the same way. This time your blade will be above the attacker's sword, pointing at his belly again. This way, you can controll his hands and movements without having to kill him directly. He won't be able to raise his sword or attack you. The only possibility for him would be to step back and give up....
*demonstrates the steps and moves*
